With Chiropractic Care You Can
Put An End To Joint, Hip And Foot Pain
And Start Living a More Active Lifestyle Again

Chiropractic care can help reduce and eliminate pain in your joints like your knees, hips, ankles, wrists and shoulders.

Joints function most effectively when they have the proper range of motion and your body is in balance.  Having one joint out of place can affect the function of other joints, ultimately causing you pain and reducing your range of motion – which can reduce your quality of life.

Because your bones, muscles, ligaments and joints form a very complex structure that can easily be affected by physical wear and tear, nutrition, osteoporosis or arthritis their ideal alignment is easily thrown off.

Chiropractors are specially trained to remove the tension and misalignment in your body which can give you more freedom of movement and less pain.

At Coquitlam Family Chiropractic we offer a scientific and holistic approach to relieving pain so you can be in better health, have more energy and do what you love to do again.

Hip Pain Conditions

Arthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis which affects 10% of Canadian Adults, being more common in the elderly. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative joint disease and occurs when joints become inflamed, swollen, stiff and painful.

Problems with misaligned feet, knees, or the pelvis are often the cause of the excessive strain being placed on the hips. Realigning the affected parts, along with an adjustment to the hip itself, can help relieve hip pain due to arthritis.

In a study of patients with hip osteoarthritis, 83% of patients improved after the 9th visit with a chiropractor.

Overuse Injury

Constant wear and tear while carrying out ones daily routine activities can cause stress and inflammation on the soft tissues surrounding hip joints.  In this case, pain can occur gradually over time.

Bursitis is a common cause of hip pain occurring when the bursae, which act as cushions between your ligaments, tendons and muscles get swollen and inflamed. The bursae are also located in other joints than the hips such as in the shoulders, knees and elbows.

Tendinitis occurs when the tendons become irritated or inflamed, most often from a minor injury to the tendon that is stressed through repeated action.  Situations such as driving for long periods, using a keyboard or painting a house can produce tendinitis.

Chiropractors use manual adjustments to return the spinal and joint structure back into alignment so that the body is able to function better and heal itself.

Trauma

In the case of injury and direct trauma to the hip bones, even if there is no breakage to the bone, pain can result from the strain to the ligaments and muscles surrounding the hip.

Knee Pain

The knee is one of the most commonly stressed and injured joints in the body.  Misalignments of the foot or hips can result in knee pain or joint dysfunction in the many parts that make up the knee.

The knee consists of a junction of four bones including the patella, and is stabilized by ligaments and muscles. A shock-absorbing pad of cartilage, the meniscus, lies inside the knee. If any of these parts shift out of position, the knee cannot function properly and swelling and weakness can occur.

Chiropractic care for knee pain works with gentle adjustments to correct misalignments and exercise programs to improve joint function and muscle strength.

Foot Pain

Imbalances in the feet are often overlooked. The weight of the body pressing down on the feet over long periods of time can cause the many tiny bones in the feet to shift out of their proper positions. The arch of the foot may begin to collapse due to this shifting.  Once the bones shift out of position, the foot starts to roll abnormally with each step, placing abnormal stresses on the other joints of the body.

Plantar Fasciitis is when the connective tissue between the heel and the base of the toes become inflammed making it painful to put any pressure on the foot to walk.  Misalignment of the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the foot can produce pain.
