Headache pain is so common in Canada that studies show 59% of Canadian Adults suffer some form of headache.

According to the Canadian Chiropractic Association, studies show that receiving chiropractic treatment is a reliable source of headache relief and one of the few treatments known to reliably ease symptoms of many types of headaches.

The following headache types respond well to chiropractic treatments. Once the type of headache you suffer is identified based on the symptoms you have, Dr. Ali Amiri can tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.

Your chiropractic treatment includes a full detailed report, digital posture analysis and on-site x-rays if needed to detect the source of the problem.  With gentle adjustments to correct any misalignments in the bones and soft tissues of the neck, the headaches can be relieved on a long-lasting basis.

Migraines

The cause of migraine headaches are not completely understood, although they are thought to be genetic or trigger-based. Triggers can include fluctuating hormones or blood sugar levels, stress levels, additives in food, environmental toxins and medications. Sometimes migraines can be life-limiting as they can last for a number of days. Some sufferers also report visual cues that consist of flashing lights, dots or lines.

Cervicogenic Headaches

A Cervicogenic headache can be caused by a problem in the neck although the pain is felt in the head.  Symptoms typically get worse with increased neck movement and better with improved posture.

Cluster Headaches

Cluster headaches have similar mysterious origins such as genetics or triggers to migraines, but symptoms are different. Patients usually describe cluster headaches as starting behind or near one eye, with the pain rapidly intensifying and producing watery eyes and nose and a throbbing, severe pain. The name “cluster” comes from both the intensely localized pain and the tendency these headaches have to recur in clusters over a series of days or weeks.

Tension Headaches

The pain caused by tension headaches can best be described as wearing a headband that is too tight. Pain is dull and throbbing.  These are often attributed to stress although that may not always be what is causing them.  A thorough chiropractic exam can reveal if there are nerve interferences present and eliminate them.
